How to prepare your home for any electrical emergency?

So it pays to know what to do when electrical work needs to be done or if there are any warning signs of an impending problem. But what if you don't know how to deal with an electrical emergency?
First of all, never ignore warning signs. You need to pay attention when the power in your home starts flickering or when you notice that appliances begin using electricity at a much higher rate than normal. When this type of thing happens, it's a good idea to get your home checked out by a professional.
